Some great advice in this film.
I've been in that pool with them waves whilst testing lifejackets and it's a scary environment.

I saw a picture on Facebook that had a small swivel slipped over the point of the hook and then tied to the hook with a knotless knot.

John I use a similar rig to you, I use a Sakuma Mini Manta size 2 hook through the live-bait around the Dorsal area and a treble through the baits lip. Sound good Mark, it's something I'd like to have a go at proper some time, I do use Pike flies but on a lightweight lure rod and have caught well on that method in the past.

The one I have is on Ebay from Fishtec , they call them Fly fishing thermometers
It has been ok for several years now, when I remember it's in the bottom of my bag I attach it under a pike float to whatever depth I want and just swing it out, I've never cast it far though.

I agree with extending the rod rule out to 6m as I think it is easy enough to cover that distance quickly if a rod goes off as it is for 3m. I'm not sure about the side planner rule as I don't know about this one. Gonna try and read up on this one. I would love to see the rule about taking fish fish...
