Re: Pitsford Water, Northampton

Hi Phil,
We will be fishing on day tickets which cost around £22 per day, with extra if you want a boat.
There is a season ticket available for £290. Deadbaits allowed from 1st Nov, before then I think it’s only fly fishing for the pike.

Pitsford Water, Northampton

Hi Guys, I’m off for a weeks piking with a few friends to Pitsford in early December. We have not fished there before, but understand it holds some huge pike, being a trout fishery. Just after any info such as good areas to start as it’s an enormous sheet of water and a bit daunting. Planning to ban...

Re: Pike landing net

Got the rage speedflow mesh and it's a perfect fit for my 42 inch triangular frame. Had to go to my local tackle shop to order as online companies don't seem to stock just the mesh & Fox didn't reply to my email enquiry. Cost £28.99. Have tested on about 6 pike so far and the rubberised mesh has wor...

Re: Pike landing net

Many thanks guys,

I've ordered a fox speedflow replacement mesh as this should fit my existing frame & so is less expensive than a complete new net (tight git!!).

Should have it within a week & I will write a review when tried & tested.

Cheers
Dave

Pike landing net

Hi guys, Looking for a new landing net that helps prevent the problems encountered with soft mesh when landing(loose trebles/pike spinning etc). Maybe a rubberised mesh of some kind. Think I saw something suitable in an old pikelines, but can’t find it now. Any recommendations would be appreciated. ...

Re: Groundbait...

Hi Steve, spomb is the way to go. Get the large size which will take fish chunks or ground bait or both together. Great thing is it casts a long way and opens on impact with the water so everything is dispensed. I always carry one when not taking the bait boat. One method I use is to attach it to my...

Re: Groundbait...

Tried it quite a lot last season. Started by putting say half a dozen chunks around each bait and then began to use ground bait balls mixed with some small chunks & 2 or 3 tins of sardines in sunflower oil all mashed up. This can be catapulted or dropped by bait boat on top of your bait (my favoured...

Returner from Colne Valley

Hi, Was a member many years ago, but fishing took a backseat when the kids turned up. Been piking for over 40 years mostly around the club waters in the Colne Valley, famous for big carp, but not so much for pike. Hence, my number of big pike caught is quite paltry, but did have a couple of low 20s ...
