PVA BAGS and Mesh tubes

Post by Chris Bagley 3319 » Sun May 16, 2021 11:57 pm

Does anyone use these for ground baiting with mashed up dead baits? Looking for information on how it's done. Thanks.

Hi Chris,
Interesting one that. I have used chopped fish as a pike attractor with good effect. Usually dropped from a baitboat if at range or catapulted for shorter distances. Online baits sell packs of mackerel heads which can be pulted a good 30 yards.
As to PVA, sounds like it could get very messy. Suspect the goo would melt PVA very quickly. However.....when the carpers want to stop PVA melting from watery baits like sweetcorn they soak the bait in salted water. Apparently this stops the PVA melting. Might work with pike mash which would take on a salty taste which, in the carp world, is considered a plus.
Might work, but don’t try it when the wife is home. Good luck.
